There are many historic buildings still standing in Gruene, giving the town a quaint, historical charm. Gruene is famous for Gruene Hall, where many country stars have played over the years, including Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett and George Strait among others. It is the oldest dance hall in Texas, and still serves as the center of the community, where couples go to dance the night away.
